The kanji filter, nkf, is a
popular way to change between different kanji codes from the
command line or embedded inside of shell script.
bash$ cat file | nkf -e (converts to EUC)
bash$ cat file | nkf -s (converts to ShiftJIS)
bash$ cat file | nks -j (converts to JIS)
The nkf package is available in the jbase.tgz
package in the base disk set of the JE distribution. Default
installation is in /usr/bin.
