Mule Installation

What JE files do I need to get mule running?

Short answer:

1.
byte code: mu2elb1, mu2elb2
2.
docs and utils: mu2etc, mu2info, mu2uty
3.
main program: wcmu2xt (allows Canna and Wnn)

If you only use Wnn, get wmu2xt instead.

If you only use Canna, get cmu2xt instead.

 (1)mu2elb1, mu2elb2
 Mule binary e-lisp files.
These files *are needed* in order to use Mule.

 (2)mu2etc, mu2info, mu2uty
All files *are needed* in order to use Mule.

 (3)cmu2xt, scmu2xt, smu2xt, wcmu2xt, wmu2xt
  X-Windows Mule2.3 binaries.
You only need the binary for your front-end. Canna,
Canna+sj3, sj3, Canna+Wnn, Wnn. You only need to download
  one file.

 (4)skkbin, skkdic, skklisp
Japanese input system, SKK. These make it possible to use Mule
with the skk Japanese input method.
The newest JE distribution can be used with SKK 8.6.

 (5)vmu2xt
If you install SKK, get this file.
If you use Wnn, Canna, or sj3, you don't need this file.

 (6)mu2els1, mu2els2, mu2els3
e-lisp source. You don't need these files unless you want to rebuild
from source. Get the compiled byte-code binaries instead.

 (7)tcmu2xt, tscmu2xt, tsmu2xt, twcmu2xt, twmu2xt
X-Window Mule2.3 dump kit. You don't need these files unless you
want to rebuild from source.

 (8)tvmu2xt
You don't need this file unless you want to rebuild from source.

Mule with Debian

Mule installation under Debian is pretty easy. In the
/pub/Linux/debian-jp/bo-jp/binary-i386/editors
directory get
mule-canna_2.3-19.34b-2.deb
file. In the /pub/Linux/debian-jp/bo-jp/binary-i386/misc directory get
canna_3.5b2-2.deb
Remember to load the canna library from your .emacs file.
